Woodbridge, Virginia – April 17, 2018 – MAG Aerospace delivered the first official FLIR Simulator systems to MAG’s first FLIRSIM customer. The MAG FLIRSIM system is comprised of a complete simulation of the FLIR STAR SAFIRE 380HD camera. Each unit correctly replicates the symbology and menu systems of the camera and provides a live virtual constructive environment to practice tactics, techniques, and procedures from the operator’s perspective. Each FLIRSIM class is a three-day course covering safe use and handling of the real camera system, IR Theory, operation of the camera itself along with the menu functions. The course culminates in use of the simulated camera to accomplish goals in simulated exercises of replicated real world events applicable to the specific student base.
Delivering this first system and implementing this first class takes MAG’s instructional technique into the future by leveraging the highest quality and affordable simulation training possible in the classroom and better preparing operators to hit the ground running operationally. “The MAG team is excited to bring cutting edge mission training to FLIR Systems”, said Wesley Fine, MAG Special Mission Crew Trainer.
